Coatbridge-born jj gilmour is enjoying a second career as a successful singer-songwriter after starring as lead vocalist with Scottish legends The Silencers for most of the 1990s. The Silencers were one of the biggest rock acts on the continent, and jj gilmour kept up the French connection when he released his debut solo album “Sunnyside PAL” with a Paris-based label in 2001.

In the UK, “Sunnyside PAL” remains one of the “lost classic” albums of the decade (still available at www.jjgilmour.com). But in 2006 jj gilmour’s cause received the heavyweight support of legendary rock manager Miles Copeland (The Police, Blondie, REM).

Under Miles’ management, jj gilmour successfully toured the US in 2006 and during 2007 recorded a second solo album, “The boy who didn’t fall”, due for release in early 2008. A first single from this album, “If you don’t give me love”, was released on iTunes in late 2007.

An effortless vocalist equally at home with gentle heart-tuggers or irresistible foot-stompers, jj writes intelligent, hugely catchy songs which stand repeated listening. In his beautifully-crafted cameos, lost childhood friends, doomed Parisian lovers and even a cartoon cowboy rub shoulders with bellydancers, war photographers and sinister Italian spies!
