The tavern on a wednesday is absolutely brilliant with what I consider the best live trad session in Cork. I've been there on other nights when the atmosphere hasn't been so good but if you are looking for a good spot with live music mid week then you will struggle to find better

I've tried quite a few Chinese takeaways over the years but still haven't come across one that beats the Yangtzee River. Their chicken curry is one of the best out there with whole chunks of fresh chicken breast and not the stringy stuff you get elsewhere. The portions are generous with a chicken curry, fried rice and chips enough to feed 3 for around 8 euros. Another massive plus for me is that they deliver quite quickly and I usually get mine delivered withing 30 to 40 minutes which is good considering I live 15 minutes outside the city.
One tip I would suggest is asking for fresh chips when ordering. I only say this because I had a couple of reheats in the past and the chips were not great but if you ask them for freshly prepared chips they have no problem doing it for you.

Probably the best live music venue in Cork in my opinion. I went there on a Monday evening after a meal and found the bar to be very friendly, comfortable and there was an excellent ballad singer playing. The prices are cheaper than inner city and the staff are genuinely friendly .

Took the kids in here at the start of the school year and found the staff to be quite helpful. The shop was quite busy but we weren't waiting long and the lady who assisted us was excellent with my kids who always hate trying on shoes! She made it fun for them and we left with 3 new pairs of shoes (one for each child) for less than 70 euros which was great considering some of the prices we'd seen elsewhere

Excellent venue for live music but get there early on Friday or Saturday nights as it can get very busy.

Probably the very best venue in Cork to watch football, listen to live music at the weekends or just have a relaxing drink.
The Evergreen is a very homely bar, with a warm, comfortable snug. Live bands at the weekend are usually excellent and with TVs and big screens throughout you'll always get a great view of the match. They have a heated smoking area out back with a beer garden during the summer.
In terms of the crowd, it is generally a local crowd but it is a friendly enough place with a mixture between the younger and older crowd.
