If the Amish were to open a PC shop and fill it with people from an anger management group who have just had lobotomies it'd still be an improvement over these guys. I wouldn't let them even gaze at my new 4th rate Alienware, let alone touch it with their ape'ish fingers.

McDonald's Restaurants - Southend-on-Sea

Airport Business Park, Rochford Road Southend Airport, Southend-on-Sea SS2 6FW

22.02.2010 (mis à jour le 21.10.2012)

At the end of the day, it’s a McDonalds.

They are almost constantly cleaning the place though, and one of the few places where the men’s toilets don’t stink.

They do have a drive-thru though, which does help keep the queue down in the main restaurant itself.

Their staff seem to be a bit on the simple side though, they only have like a dozen burgers to serve, and even then they get them wrong, how can you confused a BigMac with a Chicken Sandwich….but they do it often.

Aside from the dross that the management seem to employ here, who will mouth off at you if they knock into you, (how pleasant), this place is quite nice.

As well as arcade machines of all nature, it features bingo and Quasar too, and the staff in this instance will happily open it up for you and some mates to have your 15 minutes of fun with a laser gun if it’s not otherwise open.

The Quasar center itself is on the 2nd floor, up a corkscrew of stairs, and if you’re waiting they’ll get you a cup of water or tea in most cases, whilst you’re waiting for the game being played to be concluded, and they’ll even stick on some music of your choice to listen to whilst you’re fragging each other, or even put one of your own mix CD’s on, which is always a hoot, (some friends and myself once played a game listening to the SpongeBob SquarePants Movie soundtrack).

The arcade machines are fairly well spaced out, and offer a great variety, and also include the good old 2p machines, and being near to the High Street itself and Adventure Island, you could easily make a night out just up this endof the seafront strip alone.

Freight House - Rochford

Bradley Way, Rochford, Essex SS4 1BU

I’ll be performing here in March to raise money for charity, and chose this venue because I’ve performed here many times before and also attended parties here.

The venue is very impressive on the outside and the inside and whilst the high-ceiling does mess with the acoustics a bit, unless you’re a top-grade entertainer you’re not even going to notice this.

The staff are very polite and friendly, (it’s owned by Virgin Interactive), and will always help you arrange a hall hire for an event such as mine, or even for Christmas parties and wedding receptions, (be sure to book as far in advance as you can as the venue is very popular).

Overall, this is a great place to host or attend a function.

Strawberry Field - Southend-on-Sea

If you want food that’s served cold and could be used as foundation when building a house; this is a great place to eat.

My mother once ate a pie here, and it was so hard it couldn’t be cut ino; I stabbed into it with a meat knife and it actually buckled the knife….you could throw their food at someone’s head and render them unconscious; at least then the food would serve a purpose other than a smelly paperweight.

There is literally nothing good to say about this place; the staff are always in a foul-mood, the food ia appalling, and the place is hardly ever clean; I wouldn’t even go in here to hide out from the upcoming zombie outbreak.

London Southend Airport - Southend-on-Sea

Bringing some employment and revenue into the town, Eddie Stobart has certainly gone to the extremes to make the airport very neat and modern for domestic, European, and global flights though a larger runway is needed for larger aircraft, this isn't currently possible due to listed buildings in the area.

Staples UK - Southend-on-Sea

Unlike PC World the staff don't discriminate against minorities to their faces, don't verbally abuse the customers and actually have a clue what they're selling.

Whilst being defined as an "office supplies" shop; it's really aimed at very small businesses or individual users; the people who'd never buy over a dozen pencils for example in a single shop.

The layout has wide aisles but these often have a stock trolley left in them.

The Bell - Southend-on-Sea

Prince Avenue, Southend-on-Sea SS2 6RL

22.05.2009 (mis à jour le 02.02.2012)

The Bell used to have a reputation for being a right dive of a bar, but in recent years has turned itself around, and became one of the best bars in Southend.

Now featuring a Toby Carvery at the back, the pub itself offers a great selection of wines, ales, spirits, lagers, bitters, soft drinks and more, including “speciality beers”, all at a very reasonable price.

The decor is a little drab, but the sofa’s are very comfortable, and the background noise adds to the ambience.

A great place to have a drink with friends and family, and to just chill out and relax.

Alltronics - Southend-on-Sea

Eastwoodbury Lane, Unit 3 Laurence Industrial Estate, Southend-on-Sea SS2 6RH

14.08.2011 (mis à jour le 02.02.2012)

The prices are a a fair bit higher than other companies offering similiar services, but saying this; the customer service is pretty good and it’s worth the extra pennies; you’re getting value for money, and the services provided have a quick turnaround, often less than a day if possible and you request it.

Most services come with a year’s warranty, whilst most other companies only offer a few months at best.

The place is pretty easy to find, though you’ll have to check the sign to the industral estate it’s located in to find it easily, the bus-services being re-routed do make it quite hard to get to these days.

The company can repair most pieces of technology, both old and new, and also sells a very limited supply of products such as graphics cards and PC fans, as well as refurbished TV’s at a pretty decent price.

The staff are friendly and well versed in their repairs, and will explain the process in detail as well as give the product a cleaning where possible.

The Toby Carvery - Southend-on-Sea

Prince Avenue, Southend-on-Sea SS2 6RL

22.05.2009 (mis à jour le 07.09.2011)

An expansion to The Bell, this carvery is a meat-eaters dream, but also caters for vegetarians too.

The prices are reasonable, and the portions are huge, you can easily get yourself a meal, desert, and drink for just over £10.

The staff are always kind and helpful and willing to assist any way they can, and will always serve you with a smile.

caroley1 myself and my husband ate at the bell today at 4pm ,i love Toby but wont be returning to the bell.the food looked like it had been sitting there for hours ,meat more gristle than meat,i asked for leaner slice and chef gave me a look wont be recommending this Toby ever, also staff was lovely but manager forget full obviously too much on his mind with the builders

Scott Bull True; this place goes between being good, and being total cack; at the moment, it’s in the cack-stage.
