The cakes are amazing and the service is very friendly. Hither green is a lovely little corner of a gritty part of south london, and given that I dont do south of the river, I’d travel over and endure the nose bleeds for the raspberry and almond cake.

this used to be known as the Pickwick arms. ask any native looking new yorker for directions and they’ll say, oh the old pickwick arms. It seems to have retained the very reasonable mid town location prices. the decor however has gone quite zen, white black and red. Clean and crisp. the roof terrace is amazing, if you can find it. Rooms can be small and wifi a bit variable, but the best place I’ve stayed at so far. surrounded by equally cheap and old new york diners on 2nd avenue.

Ceci etait autrefois connu comme etant le Pickwick arms. Demandez le chemin a n'importe quelle personne indigene de la region et ils diront "Oh, l'ancien Pickwick arms". Il semble avoir garde ses prix du milieu de ville tres raisonables. Le decor, par contre, est assez zen, blanc, noir et rouge. Propre et chic. La terasse sur le plafond est surprenante, si vous la trouvez. Les chambres sont un peu petites et le vifi pas tres bon, mais c'est le meilleur endroit ou j'ai sejourne jusqu'a present. Entoures de restaurants aussi bon marche sur la 2eme avenue.

This has to be one of the oldest veggie places in the north. Ive been going here since I found out that there is more to life than the meat and two veg/staple northern diet. I converted many a carnivore into eating 'rabbit food’ here. Decor is decadent and well, how a veggie place should look.

vegetarian paradise with friendly knowledgable staff. Pasties are not as cheap as their food neighbour, Greggs the bakers, but healthier. Mix with the intelligentsia of Oxford Road’s university population in the interesting and varied food canteen downstairs. and pop by the health rack for some echinacea to beat off those winter colds. And dont we all love equality for the workers?

If you’ve ever wondered where all those lovely picturesque paintings of your everyday well known artists like monet, manet, piccasso, renoir plus others your mother would know and recognise, then this is the museum for you. housed in a beautiful old train station, near the siene, the interior adds character that is different from any other gallery. sit and take parisian coffee and cake under the original clock. Price reasonable for Paris.

The word hostel puts an array of discerning travellers off when looking for accomodation. Understandably, the word Dormitory isnt for all, but most do private room with bathroom. This one does. Set in Montmartre, the area is enchanting and full to the brim of culture, art and home to a few movie sets (Amelie and Moulin Rouge to name but a few). a hop skip and a few metro rides away from Gare du Nord Eurostar base for added bonus. So very cheap, basic with eccentrically decadent decoration, but friendly. Breakfasts are basic also but I’ve heard that thats the regular morning snack even in the 5 star hotels. Watch out for the unusual opening hours - they close their doors at 11 - 4pm and a lock out is at 2am. Paris on a budget can be done…

Le mot auberge met de côté une gamme de voyageurs particuliers quand ils cherchent un logement. Avec compréhension, le mot dortoir n'est pas pour tous, mais la plupart font des chambres privées avec salle de bain. Celui-là le fait. Situé à Montmartre, le quartier est enchanteur et est riche en culture, art et la maison de quelques films produits (Amélie et Moulin Rouge pour en nommer que quelques-uns). Un petit saut en avant et vous trouverez quelques lignes de métros en-dehors de la Gare du Nord Eurostar en bonus. Donc très économique, basique avec une décoration excentrique décadente, mais sympa. Les petits-déjeuners sont basiques aussi mais j'ai entendu que c'est le petit-déjeuner normal même dans les hôtels 5 étoiles. Attention aux heures d'ouverture inhabituelles - ils ferment les portes de 11 - 16h avec la fermeture à 2h. Paris avec un petit budget c'est possible...
